Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before a first visit. Can't find your answer? Give us a call.

01What should I expect at my first visit?

About an hour: an exam, X-rays if your dentist decides you need them, and a talk about what they found. You leave with your options and a written estimate. Bring your insurance card, a photo ID and a list of your medicines.

02Do you take my insurance?

It depends on your plan. We bill most PPO dental plans and file the claim for you, and the front desk checks your benefits before your first visit and tells you what the plan says it covers. How fees work shows how each type of plan is handled.

03What if I don't have insurance?

You pay the fee for your visit, and we give you a written estimate before treatment starts. Ask for it when you book. Financing is offered by third-party lenders. Approval and terms are set by the lender.

04Do you accept Medicaid or CHIP?

Ask us before you book. Whether we take Medicaid or CHIP depends on your plan, and we answer plainly on the phone.

05Will it hurt?

We numb the area before we start, you can ask for more at any time, and you can raise a hand to stop. We can't promise you'll feel nothing, and we tell you what to expect before each step.

06How often do I need X-rays and a cleaning?

Your dentist decides, based on your teeth, your gums and your history, and tells you why. Most people come twice a year.

07What is a deep cleaning?

A cleaning below the gumline, done when an exam shows gum disease. Your dentist shows you what they found, explains the steps and how many visits it usually takes, and tells you what happens if you wait.

08Do you see children, and from what age?

Yes. Our dentists see children from their first tooth. We suggest a first visit by their first birthday, and we take it one step at a time.

09What if I have a dental emergency?

Call us first. We keep room in the day for urgent problems when we can, and we tell you plainly if we can't see you the same day. If a tooth is knocked out or broken, call right away. For trouble breathing or swallowing, swelling that spreads to your face, eye or neck, or bleeding that won't stop, go to an emergency room or call 911.

10Do you offer sedation, and who gives it?

Nitrous oxide is available at any visit: you breathe it through a small mask, stay awake and can ask to stop at any point. For other kinds of sedation, we tell you who gives it, how you are monitored and what to expect before you decide.

11Can I get a written estimate before treatment?

Yes. After your exam your dentist lists the treatment, the visits it takes and what it will cost, in writing. Ask at scheduling or at your visit.

12How do I cancel or change a visit?

Call us or send a message as early as you can, and tell us a new day that suits you. We will find a time.

Still have questions?

Our front desk is glad to answer them. Call or send us a message.
